The cutter is made from hardened D-2 tool steel and features EDM super sharp wire-cut teeth. The Electrical discharge machining (EDM) process creates a superior cutter unequaled by conventional grinding. Unlike ordinary checkering tools the specially designed teeth feature huge chip clearance to cut cleanly with minimal effort. The result is smoother professsional quality cuts and a practically unlimited service life! The single line tools are used progressively, as follows: 1. Cut initial furrow with a 60° cutter. 2. broaden the initial furrow with a 75° cutter. 3. Complete the furrow with a 90° cutter to make the standard cut. Note: This is a cutter only, it requires the 887001 tool handle and holder (may also fit older W.E. Brownell "full-view" checkering handles). Mastercarver® brand.
