DIME TIP CARVING BARS & CHAIN. Mount a mini dime tip bar (less than ¾" diameter) to your saw & turn it into a detailing machine! Most chainsaw carvers use a quarter dollar sized tip most often. But for the smallest detail nothing beats a dime sized bar! Most chainsaws are factory supplied with a 3/8" (.375) sprocket. However, dime bars require the use of ¼ pitch chain (our item 270165) with a matching sprocket. So to use a dime tip bar normally the sprocket will need to be changed to ¼ pitch. See our listings for ¼" spur sprockets to convert your saw to accept 1/4 pitch chain.. *Mastercarver® hardened steel dime tip (best value).

Does this fit a stihl ms170
Yes, this is a universal fit bar designed to work on most major chainsaw brands (E.g. Stihl, Echo, Husqvarna, etc.).
Keep in mind that your saw will need an aftermarket 1/4″ (.25) pitch drive sprocket installed to use a dime bar. If you want a small nose carving bar that will work with your existing factory supplied 3/8″ (.375″) pitch drive sprocket choose our #271001 Quarter Bar and chain set:
